REPAIR EXPANSION JOINTS | REPAIR COPING JOINTS
In addition to installing expansion joints systems, we also conduct expansion joint repair, especially in cases of leaking expansion joints. We also specialize in coping joint repair and are able to solve problems related to leaking coping joints. As explained in the section on expansion joints, these tools are mainly used to protect buildings against the damage that could arise from extreme weather changes. They are used to absorb the expansion or contraction caused by the and cold as well as heavy movements from natural occurrences, like the weather and earthquakes, or heavy traffic – either foot or vehicular. When these joints are need of repair or replacement, Richmond Primoid is able to carry out the job using the most durable products available on the market.
Similar to expansion joints, coping joints are also used to protect against weather damage, especially humidity, in internal moldings. As a result of their durability, they are usually used inside molding joints. They are also proving a more effective option than miter joints, as they are more flexible in that they can be used in paneling along walls that are not necessarily at a 90° angle from each other. Coping joints are an important feature in internal moldings because wood usually shrinks width wise more than in its length. A coping joint, therefore, reduces the amount of shrinkage, keeping the appearance of the molding intact. Richmond Primoid can also repair damage to existing coping joints as required.
Although inconspicuous, coping joints are integral and leaking coping joints should be taken care of as soon as possible. Expansion joints should be similarly maintained, with expansion joint repair a must when it comes to leaking coping joints.
