SUMP PUMPS
At Richmond Promoid, we not only install sump pumps, but also carry sump pump maintenance and sump pump repair. Sump pumps are used to get rid of water that is most commonly collected in the basement of a home or building. Part of an effective water proofing system, a sump pump will protect against water that seeps in through perimeter drains of a water proofing system, or as a result of rain or natural ground water, which occurs most frequently in constructions built below the water table level. Particularly useful when a basement has flooded, or when a basement is susceptible to regular flooding, a sump pump will direct water away from the foundation of a structure to an area where it cannot cause any damage, like a storm drain or dry well. This will also help ward off dampness that could cause unsightly stains, odors and cause the growth of unhealthy mold and mildew. When installed, a sump pump must be constantly pumped in order to avoid flooding. At Richmond Primoid, our team surveys the property and recommends the right sump pump system according to individual specifications, including whether the structure is old or new.
It is important to note, however, that after the installation of a sump pump, maintenance is an absolute must. Equipment should be thoroughly checked over at least once a year so that repairs, if and when necessary, will be carried out swiftly and not leave your home or building vulnerable to flooding and other water damage. Maintenance to sump pumps includes cleaning to remove dirt and other debris that could affect the efficiency or life span of a pump. If sump pump maintenance is not properly carried out on a regular basis, flooding could occur, which could lead to the need for costly sump pump repair.
