Fractures within a structure’s foundation can begin to occur within as little as a year after construction. If left unattended, these tiny fissures can develop into major breaks that could lead to severe, long-term damage. Even if the exterior foundation is properly waterproofed, this will not protect the masonry from moisture in the soil that could seep into its interior. Although initially small, the cracks will be susceptible to increased pressure from water leakage, and it is this inability to withstand the pressure that could deepen the splinters within the foundation, weakening it considerably. Wall cracks that leak under pressure can be sealed by the injection of hydrophilic urethane (activated by moisture in the wall) or hydrophobic urethane. Similarly, interior spaces with high humidity levels could leave the foundation prone to dampness and is not typically prevented with exterior waterproofing. Leakages within a foundation’s interior could potentially lead to the growth of mold or mildew, an undesirable result for any interior living space, whether residential or commercial.
It is for this reason that a below grade waterproofing system for the interior foundation is needed. There are different methods of below grade waterproofing, and Richmond Primoid only uses material of the highest quality. We study the waterproofing needs of your property and produce the best waterproofing system accordingly. Without consulting professionals, the wrong chemicals could be used to treat the problem, resulting in ineffective interior waterproofing systems that will not successfully protect your foundation.
